The Space Between Words: A Day of Insight Dialogue
The Space Between Words: A Day of Insight Dialogue
Join us for a daylong retreat at the Community Meditation Center, dedicated to the relational practice of Insight Dialogue and the Buddhist teachings on skillful, wise communication. With the support of community, we will explore how we speak and listen with mindfulness, kindness, and wisdom.
So much of our communication happens automatically—filling silences, reacting quickly, or speaking without fully listening. What happens when we slow down and bring presence to the space between words? Through guided meditation, contemplative dialogue, and shared reflection, we will explore how pausing, relaxing, and attuning to wisdom can transform the way we relate to ourselves and others.
This daylong retreat is open to everyone, whether you are new to Insight Dialogue or have experience with the practice.
Date & Time: Saturday, February 22nd, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Tibet House - 22 W 15th St, New York, NY 10011.
Let’s come together and reflect on our communication—with the support of community, our kind awareness, and the Buddha’s wisdom.

In-Person and Online: Coming Home to Kind Awareness – A Daylong Retreat
As our climate, society, and collective values change and shift, it can be hard to know how to sit with it all. What do you do when it feels like your practice no longer “works”?
Join teachers Bart van Melik, Guiding Teacher of CMC, and Leslie Booker, Guiding Teacher of NYIMC, for a day of practice and communal reflection. Participants are encouraged to slow down, drop into their experience, and find support in both stillness and shared connection.
Drawing from personal experiences and insights, Bart and Booker will share wisdom on navigating critical or anxious inner dialogue, finding peace amidst life’s challenges, and uncovering the innate qualities of the heart. By taking refuge in the heart of kind awareness, we can listen to the truths of the present moment, bear witness to our personal and social pains, and find peace in our own awakened hearts.
Together, we will immerse ourselves in timeless teachings to incline our heart-minds towards appreciating the joys of living; refresh our capacities to bring awareness to the present moment; and to cultivate kindness towards ourselves and others.
This event is co-hosted by the Community Meditation Center and New York Insight Meditation Center.
